Pls find attached a copy of the final VCFL Report received yesterday listing the outcomes of their Review into the structure of Junior Football in Castlemaine, Kyneton, Bendigo & Maryborough.
In summary their findings (in respect of the MCDFNL) are:
1) That the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s (MCDFNL) ‘fourth grade’ of football be supported on the basis of the age group being U15s from 2012, and:
2) The MCDFNL be allowed to determine their ‘third grade’ of football in 2012 as either U17s or U17.5s.
3) An age gap between the league’s third and fourth football grades needs to be appropriate to the population limitations of it’s smaller clubs that whilst balancing the need for the reserve grade to function at maximum participation levels.
Note: Based on the above the MCDFNL Executive is of the view that the 3rd grade of the MCDFNL Football competition in 2012 should be Under 17 ½’s.
4) That the MCDFNL adopt an Equalisation Rule (see example Appendix 4) with 12 or more players constituting a game for points.
5) That no formal competition below the fourth grade of MCDFNL football be endorsed as an official grade of MCDFNL competition, but any informal ‘minis’ activities be allowed to continue.
6) That the ‘minis’ competition based in Maryborough be supported and strengthened collaboratively by the MCDFNL, the Maryborough Football Club and Maryborough Auskick.
Based on the atached, the MCDNFL will be requesting a meeting with representatives of the Newstead Junior FC, Campbell’s Creek Junior FC and the Harcourt Junior FC to seek their Club’s inclusion in the MCDFNL Under 15 competition in 2012 noting that the newly merged Kayneton & Castlemain District JFL will be running Under 9, Under 11 & Under 13 competitions in 2012.
This report and its findings and the implications for the MCDFNL will be placed on the Agenda for further discussion at the next Delegates meeting, but in the interim pls distribute to your Club’s Committee and members to seek their feedback and thoughts.
