KEYSBOROUGH youngster Matthew Freeman is only 21 but seems like he has been around the league for years. The talented, strong-marking youngster, nicknamed ‘Freeo’, spent his early junior years at Dingley before crossing to the Burra at under 14 level and making his way to the seniors as a 17 year-old.
Name: Matthew Freeman
Club: Keysborough
Best player seen: It’s a toss up between Shaun Daly, Clinton King and Will Gayfer.
Hardest opponent: Luke Walker (Pakenham).
Biggest influence on career: My mum (Anne). She would come out and kick the footy with me until it was dark when I was little.
All time favourite sporting moment: The two-point win over Pakenham in last year’s preliminary final. I can’t describe that feeling.
My weakness is: Kicking for goal – it’s terrible.
Most annoying team mate: Shaun Witherden – a pest.
