At present Callan is a 2nd year U/18 player and is currently being coached by U/18 coach and father Daryl.
Callan has played every senior game with the Karingal FC since Round 9, 2008. His form so far has been outstanding and ex Senior Karingal Coach, Daniel Watts says Justin Peckett and the club is very happy with Callan’s progress to date. Daniel said that his form this season has been fantastic and is a major contender for the Senior Best and Fairest, having won this award in the U/18’s in season 2008 after only playing just 8 matches. Having watched Callan play last weekend at home against Langwarrin, he has certainly adapted to the pace of the game at senior level and gets himself into position when the ball is heading his way. Callan is certainly not short of pace, and covers a lot of territory through the midfield, and he has the ability to dispose of the ball quickly and correctly when under pressure. Callan said he loves playing the midfield role and accepts all the responsibility that goes with it. He praised Justin for his informative coaching as he is always giving me plenty of feedback as to my progress which is great.
This 18 year old from Frankston, is currently completing Year 12 at Frankston High School, and will hopefully pursue a career involving sport in some capacity. Mitch has had a decorated junior career to date having won a Premiership as an Under 15 with Frankston YCW, and a League B&F and Club B&F with the Frankston Dolphins in the Under 16’s.
He is certainly well liked at Karingal and a genuine character and an absolute pleasure to have at Karingal, said Daniel.
Callan is very thankful of the support that his, Dad and his Grandfather having said they have had a major influence on his footy career and would like to thank his teammates and the club for the support they have given him over the journey.
We would like to congratulate Callan with his Young Gun nomination and wish him and the Karingal FC all the best for the remainder of season 2009.
