Jackson Casey

This weeks MPNFL PeninsulaYoung Gun nomination is awarded to the Bonbeach Football Club’s Jackson Casey.

At present Jackson is a 1st year U/18 player and is currently being coached by Brett Simpson.

Jackson has played every senior game to date making his debut in Round 1 with the Bonbeach FC. His form so far has been fantastic, said Shawn Scurrah, his senior coach prior to last Saturday’s important game at Mt Eliza. He has certainly earnt his spot in the side and is playing consistent football week in week out. He is a hard worker, and we have also given him the task of playing on key forwards who are dangerous around goal.

Having watched Jackson play last weekend, he is certainly adapting to the intensity during the game that is expected at senior level. He slots in well down on half back, with fast running and not at all afraid to mix it with the older senior players in the comp. Shawn also added that he is very versatile and can be added to their midfield or in a forward pocket when required. Jackson said he loves playing senior footy at such a young age and this will hopefully hold him in good stead as he furthers his development at senior level. Jackson is very appreciative of Shawn and the senior match committee who have given him the opportunity to improve, and are always full of encouraging words and feedback. The Bonbeach FC is very happy with Jackson’s progress to date and look forward to seeing him play some quality footy at their club in the coming years.

Jackson has also had a fairly decorated junior career also having played all his junior football with Chelsea YCW from Under 9’s – Under 16’s. He has no premierships to his name to date, but as a junior has won 4 Best & Fairest awards and been Runner Up also on 2 occasions.

This 17 year old from Chelsea, is currently studying Year 11 at St Bedes and would like to thank his mum Jo and father Paul for the influence they have had on his footy career.

We would like to congratulate Jackson with his Young Gun nomination and wish him and the Bonbeach FC all the best for the remainder of season 2009 and in their finals campaign.
