Britti hoops a nomination
NARRE Warren is a relatively new club to netball but already it has produced budding stars of the game.
One of those is 16 year-old mid-courter Britti Donaldson who has won the sixth and final nomination for the 2009 Young Rising Netball Star.
Britti started playing for Narre Warren when she was 11 years old in 2004 and immediately impressed coaches and team mates as a star of the future.
She has also played for the Outlanders Netball Club and the Beaconhills Netball Club, while her representative caps include Melbourne Waverley Netball Club in 15 and under (2007) and 17 and under (2008) together with the MPNFL Sharks interleague team in the 19 and under side last year.
Britti is the 17 and under Narre Warren captain and has tasted personal success with several awards including the 2004 runners up best and fairest followed by best and fairest wins in 2006 and 2007 along with the 2008 most determined coaches award all at Narre Warren.
The Magpie talent is yet to play in a grand final but lists the highlight of her career as when she was playing 15 and under netball and was asked to fill in for A Grade. From that she was offered a permanent spot and also won best and fairest awards in three consecutive seasons.
She says her ambition is to keep playing with Narre Warren through her senior years and hopefully captain the A-Grade side and win a premiership.
Her 17 and under coach Jo-Anne Brettoner said that Britti had accepted her leadership role with maturity.
“Britti is the captain of the under 17s and with this I put some responsibility on her shoulders,” she said.
“She is responsible for getting the girls together on a Saturday and driving the warm up process, a job she does very well. As our senior midcourter she leads this part of the court during matches and communicates with the girls during games really well.”
“I can always count on Britti to give 100 percent and I know that in tight matches she will rise to the challenge.
“I am looking forward to seeing her play finals this year. I have no doubt she will lead from the front and give everything to help the girls in their endeavours in this years finals campaign.”
A Grade Coach Belinda Jones agreed.
“Britti is a talented, hard-working midcourt player who has great speed and skills. With her willingness to be a team player, she is on her way to becoming a future leader of our club.”
