NGFNL Football Umpire of the Year award
The NGFNL Umpire of the Year Award was first introduced in 2002 to recognise the umpire voted by NGFNL Coaches as being the best for the season.
Umpires are appraised by team coaches after each game and the umpire with the highest average mark over the season was presented with the award. Up until the 2007 season, the award was open to all field Umpires in all grades, but from 2007 the award was based on the Senior Umpires only with the umpire requiring to officiate in a minimum of 10 Senior matches throughout the season.
Former League President, Board Member, and Life Member, Jim Hood donates the Trophy in his Family's name each year, and was the instigator of the award when he was on the NGFNL Board.
