Former Australian Men's Open Captain, Gavin Shuker (centre) has been recognised for his outstanding efforts on the Touch field, being chosen as one of the Athletes displayed in the exhibition. Gavin has 68 Australian Caps and 20 State of Origin Caps for Queensland. Thirty-six of his Australian Caps come from four World Cup campaigns, including 3 World Cup titles :- two at Men's Open level in 2003 and 2007 and most recently from Men's 30 division at the 2011 World Cup in Edinborough, Scotland. Gavin was named Australian Men's Open captain in 2005 and retired at an Open level following the 2009 Trans Tasman series in Wollongong. He has continued to represent Australia playing Men's 30 division at 2010 Masters Trans Tasman Series and 2011 World Cup.
Gavin has been on the Rocky Touch Assoc Management Committee as Vice-President for the past five years and plays in our current A Men and Masters competitions for Buckaneers. His influence and valuable assistance with our junior development program has ensured Rockhampton players are a force to be reckoned with not only at regional and state level, but at National level as well.
The display can be seen at the Rockhampton Art Gallery until Sunday 7th October. Entry is free and the gallery is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
