GM Position Description

GENERAL MANAGER - JOB PROFILE

1.         The General Manager shall be responsible for the day to day operations and management of the Association.  The General Manager must carry out his duties according to the policy and guidelines as determined by the Board from time to time.     

            The General Manager reports directly to the Chairman.

2.         The General Manager shall have responsibility in the following areas:-

            (a)        dealing with all correspondence,

            (b)        keeping minutes of all Meetings and preparation of meeting agendas,

            (c)        keeping the master roll of all members,

            (d)        - prepare appointment sheets for appointment committee

                        - be the Executive Secretary (non-voting) of the coaching panel

- provide direction and advice to the coaching panel re Association                       policy and procedure and

- to be responsible for administering all appointments in conjunction with the Director of Umpiring and appointed advisors once they have been announced to members,

(e)        to be the nominated person for the purpose of liquor control Act in relation to the Association club licence,

            (f)         to be the Public Officer of the Association,

            (g)        to deal with all matters relating to workcover and injuries,

(h)        to be responsible for all media reports or columns written by the duly appointed press correspondents,

(i)         to liaises with all members and to be able to provide advice or information to members as required,

            (j)         to work closely with all affiliated league secretaries,

            (k)         to organise advocates and umpires for tribunal hearings and record results,

            (l)         to Order and distribute uniforms and record transactions,

            (m)       take Hall bookings and organise keys,

            (n)        to organise all BUA sanctioned functions.

3.         Appointed officials:-

On a day to day basis, all appointed officials, other than the Training Supervisor shall report to and be responsible to the General Manager.

4.         General members:-

On a day to day basis, all General members shall communicate directly   with the General Manager on all matters relating to appointments or General umpiring matters.

5.         Other:-

The General Manager shall be authorised to make any decisions that may be necessary for the good functioning and operation of the Association, provided such decisions comply with Board policy.

6.         On a General basis the General Manager shall be a non-running umpire but may officiate at the discretion of the Board and subject to normal appointment committee guidelines.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Computer skills, Organisation skills and good communication skills are essential.
