Congratulations Bernie Nix for Life Membership 2012
at our AGM as our Newest Life Member.
Nominated Scott Muir, 2nd Nomination Alan Jacobson
Bernie having previously received his referees ticket and introduced to Refereeing in the late 1980's with the Balmain Referees Association. Then Joined the Group Nine Referees Association at the start of season 1996.
During this time Bernie's refereeing resume is of the highest standard and not just within Group Nine but within Country NSW and any Refereeing association around Australia.
To date as of Grand final Day 2012, Bernie has refereed a total of 376 Group Nine Matches, of these matches (299) First Grade Appointments, (50) Reserve Grade, (15) under 18's and (12) Under 16's Refereeing centre appointments. Season 1998 was Bernie's Introduction into the Grand final refereeing appointment arena, along side fellow touch judge Scott Muir and headed by Centre Reserve Grade Referee Cole Levy. Season 1999 Bernie Achieved his first centre Grand final appointment upon controlling the U/16's of that year. Season 2000 Bernie debut as First Grade Grand final Touch judge along side Brian Alston with Tony Fletcher controlling the First Grade Grand final match between Wagga Kangaroos vs Tumbarumba. The Following Season (2001) Nixy as commonly known progressed to his debut First Grade Grand final centre refereeing appointment. And the rest as they say has now become history'. Currently Bernie is seated 3rd of our current all time official association match appointments with Jack Castle 403 and Tony Fletcher 688 heading the list. Of Bernie's 299 First Grade matches, currently he is in the company of just 7 Referees to have reached the milestone of 200 plus First Grade refereeing appointments and
just 1 match short of achieving 300 First Grade Matches, with Tom Spain 300 and Tony Fletcher 393 First Grade appointments ahead of him. Topping Bernie's further personal achievements within our Group Nine Referees association include but not limited too:
Bernie is credited as the 2nd most Capped First Grade Grand final Referee in our Group Nine 41 Year Association History with 11 First Grade Grand final appointments ,
just Tom Spain heads the list with 13 and Tony Fletcher 6 First Grade grand final appointments. Bernie holds our association First Grade Grand final record of having referee 11 consecutive first grade Grand finals, with Tom Spain 2nd with his 10 consecutive First Grade appointments. Further refereeing achievements continues with Bernie currently 2nd in our Group Nine history, having being appointed to 12 Group Nine Grand finals with Tom Spain 14 heading the list and Scott Muir 3rd on the list with 11 Group Nine Grand final centre appearances. Bernie's contribution both on and off the field has been of an outstanding level. And his list of achievements continues with Group Nine Referees Association Referee of the year award in Season 2003. Group Nine Board's Referee of the Year in season 2004, 2006,2007,2008,2009,2010 Bernie has also been our Leader as President of our Group Nine Referees Association both on and off the field upon his this official role during seasons 2009/2010/2011/2012. Bernie has been the yardstick of what was required to achieve at the highest level of on-field performance within Group Nine for over a decade, and certainly the catalyst for peer referees to increase their own personal refereeing standard and increased standards of refereeing throughout our association amongst many members.

Muir to Join 300 Club

Scott Muir, (pictured) Group 9 Referees Association 'Historian', and Active Member, is set to reach a huge milestone in 2012.
Muir will join an elite club in the ranks of Group 9 Rugby League should everything going according to plan. Round 1 will be Muir's 199th First Grade fixture. Meaning in Round 2 (presuming he is appointed to 1st Grade again) it will be his 200th First Grade fixture....
But there is more, Muir will become only the 10th member of very special group of people, as it also doubles as his 300th Group 9 match. Congratulations Scott, hopefully there is another 300 to come..
