2012 National Youth Championship wrap up
Congratulations to the TFACT Girls 18’s and Boys 18’s teams on their performance at the National Youth Championships at Port Macquarie.
Both teams played exceptionally well throughout the tournament and can be very pleased with their performance.
The Girls coached by Peter Topp and Bec Beath made the Developing State Final and were narrowly defeated 7-5 by South Australia. ACT finished 10th overall being defeated 5-4 by the NSW Combined Independent Schools in a playoff for 9th and 10th position. The team was hampered by injuries leading up to and during the tournament.
Jacinta Williams who had an outstanding tournament was named ACT’s Most Valuable Player and also received the Players Player Award.
The Boys coached by Doug Witt and Geoff Perrin finished 9th overall defeating the Sunshine Coast 4-3 in a playoff for 9th and 10th position.
ACT’s captain Robbie McCarthy led the way and was named ACT’s Most Valuable Player. Liam French received the Captain’s Award and Jamie Hawke received the Coach’s Award.
Thanks to the players and coaches for their commitment and effort.
Kris Fisher and Michael Waring did a wonderful job managing the teams.

Girls: Erin Abraham, Kelly Archer, Sarah Carter, Jess Cooper, Kasey Dragisic, Cassie Fisher, Madison Hardgrave, Stephanie James, Vicki McCarthy, Jess O’Rourke, Alannah Radovanov, Meg Terry, Ellen Sainty and Jacinta Williams (captain).
Boys: Bradley Bell, Jay Bensley, Liam French, Jamie Hawke, Mike Houston, Eddie Jones, Rob McCarthy (captain), Mun “Moses” Mapiou, Joel Margules, Aaron Marshall, Reeion Murray, Marley Powell, Jack Van Lohuizen and Josh Woodford.
