COACHING IN SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

TERM TWO

The Wellington Netball Centre is offering to all primary and intermediates schools a NEW Coaching In Schools programme.

This is a skills based programme aimed to work with teachers in the practicing of the technical aspects of the basic skills involved in the game of netball. A coach will be provided to demonstrate two half hour sessions, while working with the class. It is essential the class teacher is present and participating in both sessions.

The content of the programme for Coaching In Schools is:

            Session 1       Footwork/Ball Skills
            Session 2       Attacking and Defending Skills

We are also offering a NEW Coaching your Coaches programme.

This is also a skills based programme aimed to assist coaches with the principals of coaching young players and introducing 'Teaching Games For Understanding'. A coach will be provided to demonstrate two sessions, while working with your team coach and school teams. It is essential the team coach is present and participating in both sessions.

The content of the Coaching your Coaches programme is:

            Session 1       Footwork/Ball Skills
            Session 2       Attacking/Shooting/Defending Skills
            Session 3       Game Content

It would be beneficial for all school coaches to have attended an introductory coaching course prior to the sessions and for the visits to be at least a fortnight apart in order for the skills to be consolidated.
