A huge event for junior's AFL in Canada is just a few short days away.
Flying in just in time to catch the end of summer, Wanderers Australia is bringing a team of excited U17's to compete in Canada. Vancouver and Toronto will be the Canadian stops on their North American tour before their more relaxing time in LA for Universal Studios and Disneyland. The 24 player squad will be arriving in Vancouver September 19th to start their two and a half week tour.
The team will be playing two games in Vancouver and two games in Toronto, just a day after the AFL Grand Finals no less. Games scheduled (details to come):
September 20th - Vancouver
September 21st - Vancouver
September 27th - Toronto
September 28th - Toronto
Junior's footy in Canada currently lags behind the adult leagues. While there is an established program in BC and an in-school program in Toronto, other cities are in the beginning stages of developng a youth league in conjunction with local schools and organizations. Calgary and Halifax are the most recent cities to begin the push to grow the game. No dobut the excitement of opportunities like this will keep the enthusiasm flowing as well as be a great experience for those involved on both sides.
AFL Canada is very excited to welcome this team and hope they enjoy the games as well as the beauty and culture of Canada on their days off.
