New era begins for soccer in Parkes

Parkes & District Amateur Soccer Association Inc. held their Annual General Meeting on Monday 17 October 2011 at the home of soccer in Parkes Harrison Park and saw the start of a new era for the sport begin with a new committee formed.

Long standing President, Malcolm Stone, and Competition Secretary Roberta Stone did not seek re-election for their respective positions for the 2012 season after being involved in soccer in Parkes for over 15 years.

The new incoming President for the 2012 season is Cameron Stone who has been involved on the committee for the past 4 years holding the positions as Senior Vice President and Registrar. Aaron Gaffey has taken on the role of Senior Vice President with new comer Victor Gaidzionis taking on the positions of Junior Vice President and Competition Secretary, Mary-anne King makes a return for the 2012 season and will again hold the position of Registrar.

Long standing committee members David Parker and Dawn Parker still hold the positions of Secretary and Treasurer respectively and are well and truly the back bone of soccer in Parkes with both members being involved with soccer in Parkes for well over 25 years.

New President Cameron Stone thanked Malcolm and Roberta Stone for all their time and effort that they have put into the sport over the last 15 years and also congratulated them on winning a State Award at the Football NSW State Dinner held on Saturday 15 October in Sydney, they now join David Parker as the only Parkes people to win this award after David received this award in 2010.

The new committee is now looking forward to the 2012 season and the challenges that it will bring and are looking forward to building on the great reputation that the previous committees have done to improve the sport in Parkes.
