Hyundai A-League come to the west

FFA Media Release: Tickets on sale for Adelaide United versus Newcastle Jets clash in Bathurst

Football Federation Australia, Bathurst Regional Council and Western NSW Football announced the ticketing details for the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season match between Adelaide United and the Newcastle Jets which will be played at Carrington Park, Bathurst on Wednesday 25 January 2012 (kick-off 7:30pm AEDT).

The match is one of five community matches to be played during the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season and will be the first time that a Hyundai A-League match will be played in Bathurst.

Lyall Gorman, Head of A-League, is very excited about taking one of the most anticipated fixtures in the competition to Bathurst.

“When we designed the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season draw we made a conscious decision to take football to new areas and share the competition with the football family under the banner that We Are Football,” said Head of A-League Lyall Gorman.

“Western NSW has such a rich football history and culture that it made complete sense to take one of our most competitive matches to a venue such as Carrington Park in Bathurst.

“I’m sure that the local community will embrace this event and enjoy witnessing top level professional football in their own backyard.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Bathurst Regional Council and Western NSW Football for all their support to host this match,” concluded Gorman.

“Having this game played here at Carrington Park is a fantastic coup for Bathurst,” said Mayor Greg Westman.

“This match will give people west of the mountains an opportunity to enjoy a top line sporting contest, close to home. Football (soccer) is a very popular sport in our region and I’m sure people across the Central West are looking forward to seeing Adelaide and Newcastle take the park in Bathurst next month.”

Western NSW Football Operations Manager Andrew Fearnley believes that hosting a match like this will provide inspiration to the local football community.

“It’s not often that the local football community gets the opportunity to see players of this calibre close up.

“From a develop point of view, events such as these will leave an indelible mark on the minds of junior footballers in the region.

“Hopefully, in years to come, some of the young players that come to the match may even play in the Hyundai A-League themselves,” concluded Fearnley.

The match will be a part of the regions Australia Day celebrations and is being hosted by Western NSW Football, with the support of Bathurst Regional Council.

There are two categories of tickets – reserved seating and general admission, with family packages are also available.
