New era begins for Parkes soccer

On Monday 21 October members of the soccer community in Parkes gathered at the home of soccer, Harrison Park, for the Annual General meeting of the Parkes & District Amateur Soccer Association.

President Cameron Stone welcomed all members to the meeting and then proceded to give his report for the 2013 season where he announced that he would be not seeking re-election for the 2014 season. "It is however with sadness that I announce that I will not be seeking re-election for the 2014 season as myself Tiff and Huxley will be moving to the Central Coast for a lifestyle and career change. I have already been lucky enough to secure a coaching position with Wyoming Tigers who play in the Central Coast Football League which is the top competition for seniors on the Central Coast and we feel that the time is also right for us now to begin a new chapter in our lives as a young family" said Cameron.

David Parked also announced that he would be hanging up the boots on his Executive career which has spanned 26 years in the position of Secretary. "I have enjoyed my time as a Member of a great Association and have been involved with so many people to many to mention but I feel the time is right for me to now pass the baton on as they say and let others have the opportunity to take Soccer in Parkes to the next level and to continue to make it grow" he said.

Other Executive members from 2013 who did not seek re-election were Senior Vice President Aaron Gaffey, Competition Secretary Victor Gaidzionis and Treasuer Maryanne King, who although is still holding this position in the intrim until a replacement is found.

The new Executive for the 2014 season is as follows:
PRESIDENT: Wayne Pearce
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT: Kevin Medlyn
JUNIOR VICE PRESIDENT: Kristy Fletcher
SECRETARY: Scott Lowe
TREASURER: Vacant (Maryanne King holding this position in the intrim)
REGISTRAR: Shirley Edwards
COMPETITION SECRETARY: Vanessa Edwards

Wayne Pearce, Kristy Fletcher, Scott Lowe and Vanessa Edwards are joining the Executive team for the first time in 2014 and are joining current sitting Executive members Kevin Medlyn and Shirley Edwards in continuing to see the sport of soccer grow in Parkes and are looking forward to bringing in fresh ideas for the future.

Incoming President Wayne Pearce congratulated both Cameron Stone and David Parker for all thier effort that they have put into the sport in Parkes and said that they will both be sorely missed.

The association will now be turning its focus to the 2014 season in which they will be looking to fill the position of Treasurer at their first meeting in February.
