COMPETITION TIMES:
Friday Nights from 5.30pm to 8.30pm
Times for specific events will be displayed on the Notice Board. Please be prompt at all times.
GROUNDS:
Our grounds are located at the University of the Sunshine Coast Sippy Downs. The Club asks that you respect university and club property and ensure that you do not litter the grounds. This is our home venue and we seek your cooperation.
FOOTWEAR:
Footwear is MANDATORY for all events, in particular the triple jump and walks. Spikes ARE permitted at our Centre for the Under 11 age groups upwards in the following events - laned events only on the track, long jump, triple jump, high jump and javelin. This includes 4x100m and 4x400m relays at Zone and State days. AT ALL TIMES SPIKES MUST BE CARRIED TO THE EVENT AREA IN A SUITABLE CONTAINER/BAG AND REMOVED BEFORE THE ATHLETE LEAVES THAT EVENT. Non compliance will result in suspension of this privilege.
QLA ASSOCIATION RULING:
SHOES are compulsory for all Little Athletes when competing in track events on synthetic surfaces, SHOES are compulsory for athletes in all jumping events conducted on synthetic surfaces and they must also be worn for all THROWING EVENTS AND HURDLES. Footwear is also a safety requirement of the University of the Sunshine Coast.
PROGRAMME:
A six (6) week programme is printed in the club handbook for athletes to follow. It can also be found under weekly programs in the drop down box.
WET DAYS:
If the weather is doubtful, cancellations will be given on Radio 91.1 Hot FM . A recorded message will be left on the following mobile number. Mob: 0407 005 707. Check out the website for updated weather details at www.usclac.org.au
PUBLICITY:
Weekly improvements and current information are printed weekly in the Sports Detail Section of the Sunshine Coast Daily and the Buderim Chronicle and Sippy downs Times where possible.
COACHING:
General Coaching sessions will be held each Tuesday evening from 4:30-6:00pm. Assistance will be given to all athletes in all disciplines at these sessions. Instructions are also given on competition meets for correct technique. Coaching is not compulsory, and we ask that athletes cooperate with the Coaches. Coaches are volunteering their time, athletes must respect this.
Specific Event Coaching can be arranged with the individual Coaches.
Senior Coaching for more advanced athletes is 4:30pm – 6pm. on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30 – 6:00pm.
LOST PROPERTY:
Any lost property will be held at the canteen. All property unclaimed at the end of the season will be given to a charity.
HELP ROSTER & OFFICIALS EDUCATION:
Parent assistance is vital to hold a normal programme and the Committee asks that all parents advise their availability to our Officials Officer (Glen Payne)
Instruction folders about the events are available for your information at each one of the event venues - please read carefully.
Each Friday night WE NEED YOUR HELP! We need approximately 60 parents to run the events efficiently each Friday night. Age marshals and event helpers are required weekly.
OFFICIALS EDUCATION – information and instructional sessions will be available throughout the season through the Officials Officer.
We encourage all parents helping out to become qualified D grade officials.
EACH EVENING WE SEEK HELP TO GET EQUIPMENT OUT AND PUT AWAY AGAIN AT THE FINISH PLEASE HELP!!!
CANTEEN:
HOT Food is available at the canteen every competition night in addition to drinks and snacks. All are at reasonable prices. We ask you to support the canteen. Parent assistance will be required each week with serving in the canteen.
FUND RAISING:
A variety of activities will be held throughout the season. Your assistance and involvement with these activities will be appreciated.
NOTICE BOARD:
This is at the canteen. Please check each week for important dates, notices etc.
MEETINGS:
Held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6.00pm at the USC stadium. Your input and ideas are important to us. Feel free to join in.
STATE TEAM:
Athletes in the Under 13 age group are eligible for selection in the State Team. They represent the State at the National Championships and are selected by a panel of Association selectors. To be eligible for selection, the athletes must have competed in a minimum of 60% of our competition meets. They must qualify through Zone Inter Centre Games and attend State Championships in Townsville. The Nationals (ATC) will be held in Brisbane at the ANZ stadium in April 2010.
TROPHIES & AWARDS:
Trophies are presented at the end of the season for Most Improved in each age group, boys and girls. Points are awarded for competing in an event and an additional point is given if there is an improvement on the last performance.
TROPHIES WILL NOT BE AWARDED TO ATHLETES WHOSE PARENTS DO NOT ASSIST THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
N.B. An improvement point will be given in HIGH JUMP if the last performance is equalled or improved.
In WALKS events, tickets will be given for levels of technique - blue, red and green. Points are awarded for improvement in technique. No times will be given for first half of the season, and there-after only if it is considered by qualified official that correct technique is being used.
ALL TROPHIES AND AWARDS REQUIRE CERTAIN CRITERIA BEING MET
(i.e. minimum no of days attendance and minimum points). These are attained by using 75% attendance as a guide line for Little Athletics division.
Attendance awards are also presented at the end of the season.
Certificates for achievement and improvement are presented throughout the season.
JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT SCHEME:
Athletes that qualify for State Championships through the Regional Trials will be eligible for the regional development team.
