The University of the Sunshine Coast Little Athletics Centre was formed in September 2007.

The successful attempt was commenced in July 2007 when contact with Queensland Little Athletics Association revealed continued support by the controlling body for the establishment of a club in the central corridor of the Sunshine Coast.

A limited advertising campaign was begun and a public meeting held to gauge public interest. Over 20 families responded and on the basis of this interest, the process of club formation proceeded. By the time of affiliation in September 2007, the numbers of interested families had exceeded all expectations with over 40 families and 80 athletes ready to sign on with the club. Permission to proceed with the new club was received on 13th September 2007.

The first committee was elected on Sunday 16th October and proceeded to set the sign on days as 13/10/07 and 21/10/07 with competition commencing on Friday 26th October 2007. By the time of sign on over 60 families and 135 athletes had registered their interest in participating at the new centre.

The club colours were selected as:

1. Teal blue shirt with twin vertical black flashes, white collar and sleeves.

2. Black shorts, bike pants, skins or briefs

The first season saw 187 athletes (making the USCLAC the third largest athletics club on the Sunshine Coast District in its first season) sign on to enjoy a season that proved to be a wonderful success for all.

Jack Marriott won a silver medal in the 1500m event at the state championship as one of a team of 16 athletes that competed at the Little Athletics State Championships.

The club was supported by Bellflower, our major sponsor supporting the club financially. This support combined with support from Aussie World, Australia Zoo, Big Kart Track, 91.1 Hot FM and DVD Maker has helped ensure a strong financial future. This generous support enabled the club to purchase most of its equipment needs in the first twelve months of operation.
