The Godfather of the Altona Bay Basketball Association Neil has been around since the very beginning way back in 1971 when the Yarraville Club was formed. He saw his dream of a local stadium come true in 1992 and served on the Altona Sports Centre board for 6 years.

From being a scorer for his Father's team back in the days of Yarraville Vultures to his current role as President of the Association Peter has had many roles during his time with the Association including player,scoretable official, committee member and member of the Altona Sports Centre Board of Directors. more -->

Jim also comes to the Association via its orginating Yarraville Vultures BC. As well as being a player and a coach Jim was a driving force force behind the Mens Senior Championship team during its time in the Victorian State Championships.

Faye & Mario joined the Association not long after the stadium opened in 1992.
Both served on the Executive committee as well as being solid supporters of the Mens Senior Championship team with Mario acting as Team Mgr for several years and Faye as doorkeeper at home games.

Attention all Junior and Senior Domestic Clubs and Teams

As you are aware last Friday 13^th March we took advice from Basketball Victoria to cancel games scheduled for the coming weekend and possibly longer. Yesterday we received an update from BV recommending that no games are to be played or training undertaken until April 13^th at the earliest.

As a result of this advice, the Altona Bay Basketball Association has taken the decision to abandon the current Junior & Senior Summer Domestic Seasons and aim to resume for the Winter Season from April 17^th for Juniors and April 20^th for Seniors. This means the teams that finished 1^st & 2^nd on the ladder will be declared the Premiers and Runners Up respectively and can if they wish collect the trophies associated with that by sending an email to Joan O’Shea at admin@altonabasketball.com.au to arrange a time to collect them.

This extended break will allow all players more time to get registered under the new individual player registration and for clubs to get teams confirmed and numbers in by the required date later this month.

A reminder that individual registrations do not activate until the first round of the new season is played.

We are taking the opportunity to run 2 free 1-hour coaches courses on Wednesday 15^th April from 6-7 pm and 7.30-8.30pm run by Lanard Copeland. Further details about this will be forthcoming.

We encourage everyone to use the time off wisely while ensuring they keep well and follow all the relevant advice available. We will continue to monitor advice from BV and other pertinent groups and should the situation change an update will be provided in due course.
