Annual General Meeting
Tuesday June 18th., 7.00PM
Commercial Club Albury
All members are reminded that the local rules require each team to supply a person for table duty, and a referee for their game (Rule 5.2). It is understood that this is often difficult, but it is the responsibility of each team to ensure this is done prior to the start of their game, to ensure the game starts on time.
In many cases teams arrange with people outside their team, and even their club, to perform these tasks for them. I have witnessed great cooperation between teams and clubs to assist each other. This is great to see in our water polo community.
From time to time, I see teams that make no effort to comply with this rule, rather spending their effort on creative excuses as to why it is especially hard for them. The rule applies to all.
In addition, rule 5.1 states the first named team (white caps) of the first game in each session at each venue is responsible for setting up the goals, timing equipment and table. At Albury pool, this includes the safety nets.
Rule 5.3 states the second named team (blue caps) of the last game of the session at each venue is responsible for packing this equipment away.
Cooperation can exist here too, but responsibility is clear.
I note on many occasions the equipment at Albury has been left outside the O&M cage. The cage is now lockable, and is so equipped to ensure the safe storage of our equipment so that it is there when we next need it. The equipment is not secure if left outside the cage. If any equipment was to be stolen or damaged, the team RESPONSIBLE for pack-up would be held accountable.
