Margo Legault - Hall of Fame 2012

The Montreal Angels cleaned up at the 2012 AFL Quebec Awards night this past Saturday, with no bigger accolade than Margo Legault’s well deserved induction into the AFL Quebec "Hall of Fame". Making the switch from rugby in 2009, Margo's list of achievements in four years is nothing short of remarkable. A key player in the Angels early wins, she also claimed the OAFL Rookie of the week award in 2009 after an impressive two goals on debut for the Quebec Saints. Things would only get better in 2010, debuting for Canada and captaining the Angels to the Canadian Nationals title over Edmonton. This was topped off with an AFL Quebec premiership medal playing for the Pointe Claire Power and then, after an already stellar year of achievements, an OAFL Division 2 Premiership medal playing with the Quebec Saints men's squad.
With the focus of 2011 squarely on IC11, Margo proved herself yet again as a key player for Canada at the tournament down under in Australia. Margo’s terrific performances in defence saw her voted player of the tournament by Canada. 2012 saw Margo carry on her national duties again, suiting up for the Northern Lights in their 49th Parallel Cup match against the United States. Margo was also named to the 2012 AFL Quebec Team of the Year.

But it is not for footballing reasons alone that Margo was given this top honour. Following in the footsteps of Club Co-Founders Dani & Luke Anderson and Anthony Williams, Margo has worked tirelessly to help the league and clubs not only continue to exist, but to grow significantly over the last few years. Margo has been instrumental in the growth of both the Montreal Angels and Women’s Australian Football in the region. An active member of the AFL Quebec committee for some years Margo assumed the role as president mid-way through 2012, overseeing the most successful month of Aussie Rules football the province has ever experienced. Without people like Margo, volunteer organisations like AFL Quebec would struggle to exist and so AFL Quebec are eternally grateful for all Margo has done and hopefully will continue to do for years to come.
