2007 ARRBL Season

2007 saw the first season of the Ag Requirements Regional Basketball League.

Organised by POP Dickerson, Jeff Clark and Jay Clark, the League was setup to give the regional centres involved, the chance to have good quality basketball games in their towns on a regular basis. These centres were all affiliated with Academy Basketball.

The League originally consisted of 3 divisions- Under 19 Mens, Open Womens and Open Mens.

The first season saw Warwick entering teams in all 3 divisions.

Under 19

The under 19 team was coached by Jeff Clark, with the team made up of:

Eugene Bradshaw, Dean Clark, DJ Cremasco, Alex Cutmore, Kevin Globio, PJ Siulai, Declan Starasts, Ashley Williamson, Ming Wang and Ronald Yam.

The teams to enter this division were (in order of standings at the end of the regular season): Highfields, Toowoomba, Goondiwindi, Warwick and Stanthorpe.

The Warwick team played it's first game at the end of 2006 against Highfields, and lost by around 100 points. After finishing 4th in the preliminary rounds of this competition, and in a huge upset, the Wildcats went on to win the Regional Championships against Goondiwindi.

Womens

The Womens team was coached by John Starasts, with the team made up of:

Renetta Baira, Sim Caffertey, Rebecca Donaldson, Ami Gliori, Anne Starasts, Sally McCarron and Sarah Petrasiunas and Tegan Walker

The teams to enter this division were (in order of standings at the end of the regular season): Dalby, Goondiwindi, Stanthorpe, Warwick and Highfields.

By finishing fourth after the regular rounds, Warwick had the difficult task of playing against the top ranked Dalby team in the knock-out semi-final, and were eliminated after losing by 6 points.

Dalby went on to win the inaugural Regional Championship.

Mens

The Mens team was coached by Jay Clark, with the team made up of:

Jeff Clark, Lehi Clark, Rick Mutzelburg, John Starasts, Chris Donaldson, Israel Natividad and joined in the last half of the season by Michael McDaniel.

Warwick were the first team to add an import into their team by adding Mike McDaniel to their roster after his commitments in the QBL.

The teams to enter this division were (in order of standings at the end of the regular season): Highfields, Toowoomba, Goondiwindi, Warwick, Stanthorpe and Dalby.

By finishing fourth after the regular rounds, Warwick had the difficult task of playing against Pop Dickersons Highfields team in the knock-out semi-final, and were eliminated after losing by 14 points.

The strong Highfields team went on to win the inaugural Regional Championship.
