Corporate/"Off Field" Clothing

Please note that the NUA off field clothing is NOT available from the NFL Office.

This clothing is managed by the NUA, and can be ordered via our web site or email, as detailed below.

If you would like to pay using paypal, just go to the home page and click on the Clothing and Uniforms link, then the NUA Off Field Clothing link, and follow the prompts.

If you want to use other payment methods (deduct from your umpiring payments, cash or EFT), please email your requirements to nua@umpires.org.au , and if we have the item(s) you want in stock, they can be collected at training on Monday or Wednesday nights.

Plese note that owing to storage constraints, there is no NUA clothing stored at our training venue - however we will do our best to satisfy your needs within 7 days of receiving your request.

An order form for other than paypal transactions will soon be added to the Forms and Resources section of our web page.

Congratulations

It may have already been announced, but it is now official! Cyrus Wong was named Most Improved Goal Umpire for 2012 down at the VFL last year, and along with boundaries Jeff Miller and Lawrence Coop who both made finals in their first season, 2012 turned out to be a very successful one for ex-NUA members.

2013 promises to be no different, as Brent Pawley and Andrew Talbot join the AFL ranks in the field, Brendan Canty and Nick Phillips head to the VFL on the boundary and Luke Richardson on the field. Not to mention Daniel Pieper who will officiate in his 50th VFL reserves game this week, Sam Booth and Luke Bush who are continuing their development as goal umpires and long-standing VFL boundary Nick Lawrence, as well.

These names, along with current AFL listed umpires Matthew Nicholls, Chris Kamolins and Heath Ryan, and recently retired AFL goal umpire Peter Gonis, are just an example of what you can achieve if you dedicate yourself to your umpiring over the coming years.

Congratulations to all our former members who are now at a higher level. We wish you all a fantastic and prosperous 2013!

NUA Annual Life Members Dinner: Saturday August 3

It might be a while away yet, but all Life members are asked to keep Saturday 3 Aug 2013 free for our second annual life members dinner.

Following the unanimous show of hands at last years inaugural dinner to continue this function as an annual event, the Executive has once again booked Casa D'Abruzzo in O'Herns Rd Epping - cost remains the same as last year, $35 a head for a 3 course meal, with drinks from the bar.

A formal invitation will be issued to all life members and their partners closer to the event - so put it in your diary now.

Spread the word to any life member you know who may not look at our web page !!

If anyone has a current address for life member Bernie Rayner, could they please pass it to our President, Tony Mahony.

Entertainment Books 2013

Entertainment Books are back for 2013! All members who have contributed to the Entertainment Books fundraising program over the past years are encouraged to yet again dig deep and help the Association build funds for the future as we get closer to a new, permanent home base!

Books will again be $65 with a percentage of all purchases coming back to the NUA. To register your interest, please speak to Russell Yin at training, or alternatively, click here to check out the online page dedicated to the NUA's Entertainment Book program!

Social Membership of the Northern Umpires Association

In case you missed it, at last year's Annual General Meeting, a new category of membership of the NUA, being Social Membership, was included in the NUA Constitution.

The Executive is keen to see ex umpires in particular, take up this category of membership and maintain your relationship with an Association you helped get to where it is today.

Whilst not having permanent rooms to call home has impacted negatively on our ability to organise "on site" social functions since the demise of George Crt, the 2012 social calendar was one of the best supported for some time, with functions including ten pin bowling, a night at the greyhounds, free admission to an AFL game at the MCG, a life members dinner to name a few.

At this point in time, we are supremely optimistic that our new rooms at Barling Reserve in Plenty Rd Kingsbury will be ready for us at the start of 2014 the season, and would like to engage as many ex umpires as possible between now and then.

Social members pay subscriptions at 50% of the normal membership rate, currently being $15, are entitled to all other subsidies as normal members (including $5 off cost of each item of off field clothing) and are invited to attend all functions organised by the Committee of Management (unless a function is aimed at a specific target audience such as a Life Members dinner).

A nomination form for Social Membership is attached - so stop thinking about, do it !!

NUA Code of Conduct

As part of it's off-season activities, the NUA Exec recently updated and endorsed the NUA Code of Conduct.

A copy of the Code can be located under our Forms & Resources Section.

Equally important to be aware of, particularly with Article 1 of the NUA Code of Conduct is the NFL Social Media Policy. This is the policy that all umpires are required to adhere to as NFL Employees and the policy is endorsed by the NUA Executive.

A copy of the NFL Social Media Policy can also be found under our Forms & Rescources Section.
