Bernie Greenbank wins NSW State Rookies Title
Bernie Greenbank is the NSW State Rookie Singles Champion for 2012 after competing in the Rookie State Championships at Raymond Terrace on the 5th of October 2012.
In round 1 Bernie played John Sippel of Maitland Park ( Zone 6 ) in which Bernie came out victor with a score line of 17 - 9.
Round 2 Bernie continued his good form when he defeated Warwick Griffiths of Austral ( Zone 5 ) 17- 5.
Round 3 was an outstanding performance by Bernie to defeat Greg Taylor of Brush Park (Zone 10 ) 17 - 1, this win secured Bernie section 2 & a place in the finals that afternoon.
The semi-final was a close affair between Bernie & Nathan Gava of Alstonville ( Zone 1 ) winner of section 1, but Bernie proved that his morning form was no fluke & was victorious 17 - 11.
The final was a one sided affair on the score board with Bernie Greenbank winning the State Title over Adam Moody of Belrose ( Zone 9 ) winner of section 3 with a final score of 17 - 3.
This feat was an extremely special one for Bernie as he had lost his wife earlier in the year, and the day before was his wife's birthday. Bernie believes that his wife played a big part in his success.
