NEW MEMBERS

Application Forms

Applications for memberships will only be accepted using the published membership application form for new members.

This form contains additional information over and above the form for membership renewal.

Guidelines for acceptance of membership

Applicants must be an existing accredited match official, either in Australia or overseas. For local applicants that means providing your FFA number.

Applicants must demonstrate prior experience – ideally over three seasons. For local applicants that means providing a copy of your FFA Log Book.

Applicants must be capable of officiating on the level of matches serviced by NSW State League Football Referees. That means that applicants must be capable of competently officiating on at least State League Division Two matches, or Division One Grade 20. Preliminary demonstration of this capability is usually through experience on senior football at a Community Football branch – All Age Division Two or above, or on Premier Youth League Grade 18 matches.

Applicants require a clearance from their current Referee Branch – this covers your financial status, and should also include an endorsement from your Branch Coach that you are ready to officiate on State League Football.

Irrespective of preliminary assessment, new members will be assessed by the Technical Sub-Committee on one or more of the first few matches appointed. Members who are found not to have reached the minimum competency standards will be asked to return to Community Football until they reach the minimum standard.

Applicants must be of suitable age to officiate on the matches covered by NSW State League Football Referees. The established protocol in NSW is that minors should not officiate as a Referee on adult football.

Process

A fully completed membership application form is to be submitted to the Secretary.

The membership fee must accompany the application. This fee will be refunded to unsuccessful applicants.

The Technical Sub-Committee will assess suitability for membership on a technical basis and make recommendation to the Management Committee.

The Management Committee will then consider the application for membership and either accept or not accept the application.

Additional Details

Some payments are made directly by Football NSW.

Football NSW require your banking details for their payroll department.

Football NSW also require a Tax File Number Declaration Form.

We require your banking details for payments made by or through our Branch from time to time.

Football NSW request that you submit a Standard Choice Form for superannuation fund. Note that superannuation is only triggered at certain earning thresholds, usually only if officiating on high volumes of Premier League First Grade matches.

A Statement By A Supplier must also be provided to NSW State League Football Referees to avoid withholding tax.

When can I start?

Once your membership application has been accepted, your fee paid, purchased your uniform, sent your availability details to the appointments officer, and passed a fitness test (for active members) then you will be eligible for appointment to matches.
