For those who are unaware of what Auskick is all about, Auskick is the key introductory program for Australian Rules Football for junior participants aged 5 to 12. It is designed to teach the skills of Australian Rules Football in a fun and safe learning environment. The rules of the game are modified to ensure that the younger aged participants all get involved and are able to learn these new skills easily. The program is focused on participation and enjoyment, rather than competition and results which keeps the atmosphere light and friendly. It is not until the age of 13 that competition is introduced which allows the children to first learn and develop their skills before playing competitively. The program is run by the community, for the community and all Auskick volunteers are recognised for their efforts by the Taree Auskick Centre. We also encourage parents and carers to become volunteers at the centre, or to join the Centres committee to have a say in the running of the program. Australian Rules football experience is not essential, just a willingness to paricipate and have fun are all that is required.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer or committee member should contact the Taree Auskick Centre on 02 65533345
