Former NRL Star joins the Dogs
After a diasappointing season in 2012, Warners Bay have turned to former Newcastle Knights star, Robbie O’Davis to get them into shape for 2013.
In what is a major coup, O'Davis has joined the club as one of their trainers in preparation for the 2013 season.
O’Davis played 223 NRL games for the Newcastle Knights, 12 State of Origin matches for QLD and 8 games for Australia.
He is now a Personal Trainer and bootcamp instructor in Newcastle running over 20 sessions a week.
Warners Bay Coach, Jimmy Newburn is happy with the way players have adapted to O'Davis's appointment.
"Currently he is putting the boys through gruelling sessions in and around Merewether baths on Saturday mornings, and while it is pretty tough training the commitment of the playing group has been fantastic so far" Newburn said.
"We hope to have a continued partnership with Robbie into the future" he added.
Further details on O’Davis’ classes can be found at www.smarterfitness.com.au .
After being a regular fixture in the BDAFL finals, Warners Bay finished in 5th spot in 2012, well off the pace.
Apart from O'Davis, the Bulldogs also have a number of players returning in 2013.
The club have confirmed a practice match for Saturday, March 9 against AFL Sydney side, Blacktown in Sydney.
