About the CVL

CVL

The Central Venue League (CVL) is a monthly competion run by Worcester Wolves Basketball Academy. The CVL is aimed at players/teams that want to play competive basketball but without the constraints and costs of National League.

Every month from October to March around 120 children come to the University of Worcester to play basketball. The first six matches will be in a league format, Finals night in March sees the top 2 teams from each age group playing each other for the CVL champions trophy. The 3rd and 4th place teams will also compete on finals night against each other. Finals night is a great night for players and spectators alike with the Worcester Wolves BBL players in attendance throughout the night to give advice, sign autographs and hand out the winning trophies.

There are 3 age groups in the CVL: U12, U14, U16. There are 4 teams from across the region in each group.

If you are interested in entering a team please contact us on info@wolvesacademy.org and one of us will be in touch.

Spectators are more than welcome to stay and watch from the public gallery where refreshments will be served throughout the evening.

Teams already signed up for the 2013/14 CVL

U12, Worcester Wolves, Frankley Falcons, Worcester Bears
U14, Worcester Wolves, Frankley Falcons, Worcester Bears
U16, Worcester Wolves, Worcester Sixth Form, Blessed Edward Oldcorne

The Academy is pleased to welcome, for the first time, an all Girl Team representing Worcester Sixth Form College (WSFC), showing the increased popularity of the sport amongst female players and the strong links between the Wolves and WSFC

Many players that have taken part in previous CVL tournaments have now progressed and are playing National League level basketball either with Worcester Wolves or other teams throughout the Midlands. However, the ethos of the CVL remains that it is a tournament open to all abilities, all we ask is that you have a desire to play basketball and you enjoy yourself, we will promise to give you the best opportunity to do that by providing a safe environment in which to play with suitably qualified officials controlling each game.
