Vicken 'Shadow' Nalbandian

Shadow started playing Basketball at the age of 17 in 1989 and was coached by Arnold Eynaud. He took a Referee course run by Ralph Greco. Shadow started Court Supervising & refereeing at different venues 6 nights a week. Saturday was his only day off but he still chose to referee GPS games in Private School Comps.

On Sundays, he would travel all over Sydney refereeing Representative games for Norths.

In 1991, he started coaching several junior teams. In the same year Graeme Reid and Shadow put together a team to enter the Moss Vale Carnival. They played 2 games on the Saturday, 1 on Sunday, and made the grand final, which they won in triple overtime by 5 points, with only 3 players left on the court.

In 1993, Shadow was Manager of our senior womens rep team, which made the finals, as well as Referee Co-ordinator. When NSBA acquired Rooftop, he supplied and manufactured the backboards that were used.

Shadow refereed junior State games for several years which included 1 Grand Final (U/16 womens) and continues to play in our Senior Domestic Men’s as well as refereeing when he can.
