Stephen Goodman

Stephen started playing in our first Unisex comp. Within a short time, he was assisting by refereeing and then coaching in our Junior Rep programme.

Whenever something needed to be done, Stephen was always the first person to raise his hand.

Stephen’s life was tragically cut short at age 22 when he fell while rescuing a fellow climber who had become stuck while rock climbing in the Blue Mountains. He was able to hold the girl until she could be rescued, but fell to his death before he could be hoisted to safety.

The Stephen Goodman Memorial Trophy was donated by his family to be presented to the Junior member of the Association who contributed the most to the Association, reflecting the way Stephen lived his life.
