Genia McCafferey was mayor of North Sydney Council when NSBA first looked at turning the Crows Nest Tennis Centre into a rooftop basketball centre.

She immediately grasped the benefits to the community of North Sydney of having a centre which could provide a safe environment for them to participate in sport, especially basketball.

She was instrumental in getting our initial DA approved, along with subsequent rental relief while we were an outdoor centre.

When we approached her with the idea of enclosing Rooftop, she was forward thinking enough to realise the long-term benefits such a world-class facility would bring to North Sydney.

Genia has always worked closely with the Board and staff of NSBA and continues to provide advice and encouragement whenever she is called upon.
