Insurance

As a registered member of NSBA you will be covered by Basketball NSW player injury insurance scheme. To find out more about that insurance cover please click here. In addition, NSBA strongly recommends that all players have private health insurance and also consider income protection insurance if they are working. Basketball is a fast moving sport and injuries do occur regularly.

Before you join as a member you need to be aware of the following:

  • You must belong to a team that has been accepted into a new competition OR a team that is already playing.
  • Do NOT register until you have found a team to join
  • There is a Player Exchange Board (PEB) to help find teams and players connect with each other
  • Your registration is for 12 months and is non-refundable (1). There is no shorter period of membership
  • As a member you are bound by the by-laws of NSBA
  • You are NOT permitted to play unregistered. Staff check registrations every round of the competition
  • You are required to do duty as nominated in the team competition draw and you may be called on to referee as well as do score table duties. NSBA offers courses for players to learn the basics of refereeing
  • Adult Night time competitions run from Sunday through Thursday starting as early as 5pm and the last game starting at 10:20pm with game times allocated equitably across the competition.
  • Juniors U18 Boys Divisions 1 and 2 play on Thursdays, whilst other grades U14 – U18’s boys and girls play on Fridays from 5 – 11pm with the younger age groups allocated earlier timeslots
  • Saturday Miniball U8 – U13’s run between 7:45am until 8pm. Timings are age and division dependant and younger age groups are usually allocated earlier timeslots
  • Senior members are entitled to vote at the AGM and as determined in the NSBA Constitution
  • Alcohol is not permitted to be consumed in the premises and no player will be allowed to play if any official or staff member of NSBA considers that person to be affected by alcohol or other substances
  • All members, players, spectators and officials are bound by Conditions of Entry, Codes of Conduct and the terms of the Zero Tolerance policy
  • NSBA has a variety of sponsors and our members are entitled and encouraged to make use of their offers
  • Each week members receive an emailed newsletter advising news and upcoming items of interest, course and other events
  • NSBA is dedicated to providing a clean, safe and fun organised sporting environment for its members

By becoming a member, or renewing your membership, you agree to be bound by NSBA’s constitution and by-laws, including our Member Protection Policy, which is designed to ensure a fun, sporting environment without harassment or discrimination of any kind.
