SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS

Home and EU Scholarship

This scholarship is open to Home and EU applicants who are currently competing at a national or international level in sport.

Successful applicants will receive a range of support based including:

  • A bursary of up to £3000 per annum
  • Flexible study options
  • Gold gym membership at SportsDock
  • Physiotherapy and sports massage
  • Partial fee waivers for postgraduate students
  • UKSCA accredited strength and conditioning coaches
  • Facility and equipment access
  • Lifestyle and performance workshops
  • Access to a range of sports science support including nutrition, psychology, physiology, biomechanics and performance analysis

International Student Scholarship Programme (postgraduate only)

These scholarships are particularly focused on Athletics, Basketball, Amateur Boxing, Judo, Rowing, Tennis, Swimming and Volleyball although we do offer support to athletes from the full spectrum of Olympic and Paralympic sports.

Our international scholarship recipients benefit from:

  • 100% of tuition fees paid
  • £1000 bursary for living expenses for the academic year
  • Gold gym membership at SportsDock
  • UKSCA accredited strength and conditioning coaches
  • Physiotherapy and sports massage
  • Free UEL clothing from Kukri
  • Additional access to training facilities where required
  • Access to the academic flexibility policy to assist with international call ups, training camps etc.

SUPPORT SERVICES

UEL has developed a suite of athlete support services to support emerging and established high-performance athletes in their pursuit for sporting excellence. Our partnerships with local services providers and internal services ensure our athletes receive the support they need. We have access to British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) accredited staff with expertise in nutrition, physiology, movement analysis, biomechanics and sports psychology.

Support includes:

  • Physiological fitness testing
  • Strength and conditioning (UKSCA qualified support staff)
  • Sports psychology
  • Sports Therapy
  • Sports biomechanics
  • Sports nutrition
  • Physiotherapy
  • Podiatry
  • Pilates
  • Remedial therapies
  • Career counselling, lifestyle and mentoring support (Talented Athlete Life Skills (TALS) qualified members of staff).
