The 2013 Kanoa Resort Women’s Basketball Summer League kicked off last Monday night with Ballersss and Bubblebxtt prevailing in the opening games at the TSL Sports Complex.

Ballersss played in the first game and limited Yoloswag Attack to 12 points in the second half to cruise to a 70-52 win. Three players scored in double digits in Ballersss’ debut with Ira Palero leading the way with her 20 points. Dion Diaz contributed 18 points, while Jan Travilla chipped in 14.

Diaz and Travilla teamed up for Ballersss in the first half with the former dropping 14 of her 18 points in the first half and the latter scoring 12 for their 52-40 advantage at the break.

Kaylani Lebria also waxed hot in the opening 20 minutes of the match, firing 18 points off six triples, while Yoloswag Attack got one trey each from Jazmin Rayphand and Jaime Mendoza to face a manageable deficit at halftime.

However, Ballersss pulled away in the second half, as Lebria was held to one triple, which she made when the game was already out of reach for Yoloswag Attack. Only Lebria and Mendoza scored for Yoloswag Attack in the second half, allowing Ballersss to win its debut via blowout.

The second game in the opening day of the four-team league also ended in a rout, as four Bubblebxtt players joined forces in whipping the Rachel Abrams-led Hashtag.

Mikki Kautz had 16 points for Bubblebxtt, Jeralyn Castillo added 14, and Marie Javier and Madeleine Alegre logged 13 and 10, respectively. Only Abrams scored in twin digits for Hashtag with her 14 points.

With Bubblebxtt having a balanced offense and only Abrams attacking for Hashtag, the former built a 31-16 halftime advantage and never looked back from thereon.

Meanwhile, games in the Kanoa summer caging will be played every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The four teams will play in a double-round robin regular season and all will march into the double-elimination playoffs.

First Game

Ballersss 70 – Palero 20, Diaz 18, Travilla 16, Reyes 6, Garon 4, Olivos 2.

Yoloswag Attack 52 – Lebria 23, Mendoza 12, Rayphand 7, Kautz 6, Mendoza 2.

Scoring by halves: 52-40, 70-52.

Second Game

Bubblebxtt 57 – Kautz 16, Castillo 14, Javier 13, Alegre 10, Pagarao 2, Gatchalian 2.

Hashtag 30 – Abrams 14, Gelacio 6, Atalig 5, Lumabi 2, Badilles 2.
