(Contributed Photo)DYS had another blowout win in the U15 division of the 22nd Annual Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League after demolishing the Ol’Aces 2, 97-26, last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

DYS, which opened its campaign in the youth caging with a 74-32 whipping of the Rollers, had the victory right after the second quarter when it held the Ol’Aces 2 to 2 points, turning a 19-8 lead to a big 39-10 advantage.

Another 2-point production made it close to impossible for the Ol’Aces 2 to get out of the deep hole, allowing DYS to keep a perfect record in the six-team field and share the lead with KFC/Taco Bell.

John Samuel Darag top-scored for DYS, while D.J. Ong fired 18 points in his first game this season. Karlo De Leon was the third DYS player to finish in twin digits with his 10 markers, while the Kristian Itaas was the lone double figure scorer for the Ol’Aces 2 with his 13 points.

KFC/Taco Bell 58, Rebeholics 31

KFC/Taco Bell also eased its way to its second win after crushing the Rebelholics in the second game, 58-31.

KFC/Taco Bell started slow, making only 9 points, but it was far better compared to none from the Rebeholics. The Rebelholics then outgunned KFC/Taco Bell for the first and only time in the second period, 13-10, to stay in the game, but before folding up in the second half. KFC/Taco Bell broke the game wide open at the beginning of the second half, drilling 22 points in the third for a 42-22 lead. C.J. Morales led the breakaway, scoring 11 of his 13 points in the third canto.

Ol’Aces 40, Rollers 30

The Ol’Aces entered the win column after outclassing the Rollers in the curtain-raiser.

The Ol’Aces limited the Rollers to single digit in scoring in the first three frames en route to the 10-point victory. The Rollers nailed no more than 6 points in each of the first three periods and accumulated only 16 markers to face a 16-33 deficit with only one quarter to go. The Rollers finally broke into twin digits in the fourth, but these were not enough to rally the team back into the game.

Joseph Sablan led the Ol’Aces with his 20 points, while Manny Cobacha paced the Rollers with his 8 markers.
