Ba Provincial joins schools basketball

BA Provincial High School is the newcomer in the Lautoka Basketball Secondary School competition. Ba Pro, which is renowned for athletics and rugby, is fielding two teams in the weekly competition. Tournament coordinator Simi Cagilaba said it was always good to see new teams join the competition. He said their aim was to spread the sport to more schools in the Sugar City. Cagilaba said the level of competition had improved every week since they started. "We began this event three weeks ago," Cagilaba said. "The inclusion of the national Under-20 reps has lifted the profile of the sport. "We have the likes of Afa Seruvakula, Leba Korovou and Caroline Chambers participating. "Ba Pro has taken up the sport actively for the first time ".They have two teams one each in the Under-15 and Under-17 grades. "We have a Korean school (EDUPIA) from Nadi also taking part." In the boys U17 match yesterday, EDUPIA beat Ba Pro 25-12.
