LDS targets U17 tourney

THE Latter Day Saints Under-17 girls team will be hard to beat in the Suva Secondary School Basketball Championship, says tournament co-ordinator Nicholas Wong. The champion girl's team is undefeated after two games. LDS will face a stiff competition from Laucala Bay Secondary School today. Wong said LDS would be a tough opponent for any team. "LDS is a very good team," he said. "Their performance keeps on improving each week. They play quality basketball which makes them the number one team in the U17 category." Wong said LBSS would challenge LDS in today's fixture. "I think it is going to be a tough game for LBSS. LDS is one of the top sides and for sure they will be hard to beat," he said. Also keeping a clean slate from two games is Saint Joseph Secondary School. Wong said SJSS would be a threat to LDS. SJSS play Gospel High School in round three of the competition. Wong said it would be tough for SJSS to beat GHS. "Saint Joseph is another tough team," he said. "Their training this week is being disrupted by some school's concert. "They can play a good game but Gospel has been training hard for the past few days. I think it will be very hard on them to beat Gospel this time." The basketball competition starts at 3:30pm today.
