Team Fiji Advances into Quater Finals

Both the Fiji men and womens basketball team advances in to the quaterfinals to be played at the Trust Stadium in Waitakare this afternoon. The mens team after beating PNG in their last pool match on Tuesday afternoon, placed them 2nd in pool A behind New Zealand. They will play Tahiti this afternoon at 2pm. They went through their game plan this morning with coach Mike Whippy and are currently resting at their lodge at Hobsonville.

The womens team will face PNG tonite in the womens quater finals. If they beat the Papuans then they will meet up with New Zealand in semi finals, whom they lost to by 19points on Monday. There has been lots of support from our former Fiji players residing in Auckland with the like of Paul and Olive Whippy, Lorraine Evening, Maria Sauni and Nunia cheering on for Fiji in all their games. Weather has been cold but the teams are adapting well to it.

We the management team would  like to thank all our sponsors back in Fiji for their support - FVB, FMF, Waitui, Ministry of Youth&Sports and many others too many to name.
