Warriors too strong

EXPERIENCE played a big part for the Warriors in their 54-9 win over Bucks in the Raiwaqa Basketball knockout tournament at Eds courts yesterday. Warriors now look to be one of the Raiwaqa teams to qualify for the Easter championship next month.

Led by Saki Rikodi, Martin Singh and Tevita Ratuyada, the Warriors proved too strong for the young and inexperienced Bucks side. Bucks coach Nicholas Fong said his players failed to apply the basics of the game which led to their down fall.

"This is a development team of Bryce, they are very young players who attend secondary school. It was a good break though and I believe they will be a force to reckon with in the future." "The game was a good learning curve for them as we expose them to this level," Fong said.

Manoa Vuetibau, the young brother of national under 20 rep Isikeli Vuetibau, played a grand role for the Bucks team. Bucks committed lots of fouls which the Warriors converted into points from free shots. Fong said they needed to uplift their performance to another level. "It was a good experience playing against an experienced team like Warriors. I believe the boys played well but we need to be more accurate on the basics of the game," Fong added.

Warriors led Bucks 28-8 at the break.
