2006-07 Shell National Basketball League starts

Shell Company donates to the NBL

The Shell NBL commenced on November 27th and conclude in May 2007. The league has again set a new record with 26 teams this season. The three new teams were added to the 13 teams in division II from last season for a total of 16 teams. In division I, all 10 teams from last season returned. The league will fallow the format of last season were teams play within their division for the division title. All teams will then play for the season finals to determine their rankings for the next season. Games are played at the National Gym starting at 6pm from Mon-Sat. An estimated total of over 200 games will played in a span of 6 months. Shell Palau Company is the Main Sponsor of the league and donated funds to help in running the program as well as the development of the national squad. The registration fee was set at $350.00 for each team. All teams have private businesses and individual sponsors who pay the registration fees and purchase uniforms for the players. An estimated minimum of $600.00 is the cost of sponsoring an NBL team. The officers of the NBL are: Razi C-Boy Rimirch - President. Eugene Usin Termeteet - Vice President. Brian Smau - Sec/Treasurer. The League also has a 5 member technical committee and all coaches are members of the PBF Coaches Association.
