FBL action: Rangers to take on Western Union

Last season’s runner-up team Rangers and tournament dark horse Western Union are set on a collision course with the winner taking a better position going into the playoff round when hostilities of the 2009 Filipino Basketball League (FBL) resumes Sunday at the Palau National gym.

With both teams tied with identical 11-3 win-loss records, the winner in their 3:30 p.m. encounter will even its chances and take solo second spot in the team standings.

Despite missing the services of Eugene Baluyot, the Rangers are determine to stay on course on their campaign for another shot at the title with their team led by Jay Naguit, Ronald Mamuyac, Noel Avenido, Mike Guevarra, Rey Hinosa, Oliver Nicdao and Arsie Bacani.

On the other hand, Western Union will heavily rely on Bong Alambra, Jun Bautista, Jun Clemenia, Ruben Tecson, Darwin Fuentebella and veteran Nelson Baysa to provide the scoring clutches.

In other games, Ilocandia Bulls will face off with Hanpa Cardinals in the opener at 11 a.m. followed by the Surangel and Sons-Rams Ballers tussle at 12:30 p.m. while J-Trading Jaguars will meet Palau Nationals at 2 p.m.

The tournament is supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF) and sponsored by Pinoy Express and Remittance, WCTC, Aqua Water, Print Zone, PITI, Palau Royal Resort, ATT Bar and Restaurant, CTSI Logistics and Shimbros International
