Olympic Solidarity (founded in 1961) reflects the Olympic ethic of which the base notions are generosity, understanding and international co-operation, cultural exchanges, the development of sport and its educational aspects and the promotion of a society concerned with human dignity and peace.

2009 OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY PROGRAMS & COURSES

Applications for Olympic Solidarity funded programs for Olympic Sports only, are now available from FASANOC.

The following National Federations: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Cycling, Football, Hockey, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Yachting  wishing to benefit from opportunities provided via the International Olympic Committee funded Solidarity Programmes can apply for programs from the following categories:

1.  Coaching Clinic/Camp for Athletes - To provide opportunity for a local or overseas Training Clinic or Camp by an overseas based or local Coach

2.  Courses for Coaches & Techncial Officials - To provide training and upgrading of coaches and technical officials through a course led by an expert from another country, or using local coaches approved by the relevant Oceania Federation.

3.  Scholarship for Coaches - Access to high-level further training of a national coach with a miniumum of 4 week attachment at a recognised institution certified by the IF.

4.  Continental & Regional Games Athletes Preparation support is available for multi-sport events that FASANOC coordinates.  For this year, sports participating in the 2009 Pacific Mini Games in the Cook Islands are eligible to apply.   Support will be available towards preparation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games next year.  

5.  2010 Youth Olympic Games Preparation to assist in the preparation of young athletes  qualification and selection to the Singapore Youth Olympic Games. 

6.  Scholarships for Athletes London 2012 -  will come on-line in 2010. 

7.  NOC Administration Development /Training for Sports Administrators -  FASANOC will over the next 12 months organise a workshop for NF administrators.    

8.  Oceania Sports Education Program - The course is designed for executive-level sports personnel, including non-Olympic Sports to expand their managerial skills while actively contributing to a unique learning community

9.  Sports Medicine - A workshop for doctors, physiotherapists,  psychologists and sports trainers involved with assisting National Federations and Team Fiji will be held in June in Suva.   

10.  Women in Sport FASANOC WIS Commission will be coordinating activites during the year.  

11.  Sports For All  - The 2009 Olympic Day Run will be held on 20 June in Suva and Nadi. Suggestions and proposals for other activities are welcome. 

12.  Sport & The Environment -  to implement initiatives linking sport and the environment.
