Setting criteria's for community coaches

Paul Lane and his team at the Yap Sport Council welcomed the Federated State of Micronesia Sport Education Program (FSMSEP) with the conduct of a sport training from the 14-16th of May 2012.  The training was for the Sport in Communities Administrator targeting representatives from municipal and sport association clubs. Around 13 participants completed the training which was held at the Small Business Center and the Colonia Community Center in downtown Yap.

The training is part of building the capacity of community coaches and administrators as municipal sport clubs and sport associations prepare for the Yap Games in June this year.

The training for community sport clubs continue on Wednesday and Thursday 21 and 22nd of May with the Community Coach & Official course.

Yap Sport Council have ruled that all coaches that take part in the upcoming Yap Games must be certified FSMSEP community coaches.  Yap Sport Council is the governing body of sport in Yap and is fully funded by the sin tax under the Yap state government.

Yap Sport Council Director, Paul Lane, said that the training has gained momentum with increased interest from those that did not attend the inaugural trainings last week.  With the positive response received from those trained this week, a second training will be held in April by OSEP regional trainer, Jubilee Kuartei.

Also at the training was newly appointed FSMSEP sport education development officer, Cassidy Shoniber who is based at the FSMNOC office in Pohnpei.
