TEAM VANUATU TO OLYMPIC GAMES
Team Vanuatu to the 2008 Olympic Games will be departing Vila on Monday 4 August 2008 for Beijing, China.
The Team consists of athletes, Moses Kamut and Elis Lapenmal in Athletics and Priscila Tommy in Table-Tennis. Accompanying them are Coaches Denison Tari, Sun Hongyi and Anolyn Lulu.
The Team itself will be lead by Chef de Mission, Antoine Boudier and Team Manager, Henry Tavoa.
Both Table-Tennis Golden Girl, Priscila Tommy and Vanuatu 100m Record Holder, Moses Kamut are undergoing pre-Games training in China and Belgium respectively and will join the team on their arrival in Beijing next week.
These Games are the first for Tommy and Lapenmal and the sport of Table-Tennis while Kamut will be participating in his second Games after Athens in 2004.
The Team also includes Olympic Youth Campers, Ailleen Huri and Pareina Matariki.
As usual VASANOC President, Joe Carlo and Secretary General Seru Korikalo will be at the Games by invitation from the IOC.
VASANOC guest is Au Bon Marche's Rene Ah Pow in recognition of the company's contribution to sports development in the country.
For the first-time again since the 2000 Sydney Games, Team Vanuatu will be accompanied by Vanuatu dignitaries including the Head of State Delegation, the Prime Minister's Delegation and Minister of Sports Delegation.
The dignitaries will be there to witness the Opening before returning to Vanuatu.
Vanuatu will be hosting the Vanuatu Night on 9th August 2008 with view of promoting Vanuatu to the international market.
The main Team returns to Vanuatu on 27 August.
