Tonga Team Farewelled at Embassy of China


Members of the Team Tonga delegation as
well as members of the media were gathering the Embassy for the People’s
Republic of China for a “Sending Off” by the Ambassador, HE Mr Hu Yeshun and members of the staff
of the Embassy.

In attendance was HRH Prince ‘Ulukalala,
the son of the Sovereign’s Representaive to the Games, HRH Crown Prince
Tupouto’a-Lavaka who could not attend with the princess because of a flu.

HE Mr Hu Yeshun welcomed and elivered a
warm remark for a sending off of the team and also touched on the Games theme,
“One World One Dream”.

The President of the Tonga NOC, Hon. Tevita Tupou replied and
acknowledged and thanked the Ambassador and the Government of the People’s
Republic of China for all assistance that the NOC has received over the past years in its
preparation for the Games.


The NOC Secretary General, Takitoa
Taumoepeau then introduced those members who attended which also included a
former Olympian, Mrs Siulolo Koula (Liku) and the team for the Paralympic Games
later in September in Beijing.


There were remarks and questions from the
media and the night was rounded off with light dinner and drinks.
