The Olympic Village in Beijing, located adjacent to the Olympic Green, is a complex of 22 six-story buildings and 20 nine-story buildings. The Village will house the more than 16,800 athletes, coaches, and officials participating in the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.

Facilities at the complex include a clinic, a restaurant, a library, an entertainment center, a store, and a leisure and exercise quarter with a fitness room, pool, basketball and tennis courts, and a running track.

The centerpiece of the complex is the Olympic Square where 200 flags of the IOC member nations will fly.

Apartments (a typical one is pictured above) house from four to eight persons and are wired for Internet access. They also feature network and closed-circuit TV and extra-long beds to accommodate the taller athletes.

The Beijing Olympic Village makes use of solar energy and has its own water filtration system.
