The New Zealand badminton team at the Sudirman Cup World Team Championships (world mixed teams event) held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has had the narrowest of losses to start its campaign at the tournament this evening.

New Zealand players have won the womens and mens doubles title and the New Zealand Junior (u19) team finished runner-up in the team competition at the Oceania Junior Championships in Tahiti

Eight New Zealand players are playing in the Air Tahiti Nui International Challenge (a BWF level 4 event, prize-money US$15,000) which gets underway Friday morning Tahiti time (22 hours behind New Zealand).
