Matthew Calhoum led his team to a 5th place finish at the Surrey CVL, while also being eliminated in the quarter finals of the CVL play-offs. M. Calhoum had a very good season as he was one of the only 3 returners from the team that lost in the semi-final of the play-off last season. Mayo was the youngest player on the U12 team this year, and although he was also the shortest player on the team, his hard working nature, impressive fundamental skill set earned him regular minutes on the team as the season progressed. A. Mayo was also the youngest player ever to make the U11 Regional South team. The Rams wish Al all the best in this summer’s regional competition.

Oliver Blake was nominated for the Coaches award for the U12 CVL team. This was Ollie's first season playing on a basketball team and O. Blake showed he was the kind of player his teammates could count on.

                                                U14 CVL

Jed Howling edged out Alex Pritchard by 3 votes to capture the U14 CVL MVP. Jed is no stranger to winning the MVP awards as last season he was also the U12 CVL MVP. In a tough season for the U14 CVL Rams team, Jed led his team in scoring. Jed will need to continue to improve as he will be one of the older players in next season’s CVL and N.L team.

Sean Tse was named U14 CVL M.I.P. Sean is also another emerging first year player who went from limited minutes to becoming one of the key players on the CVL team at the end of the season. Sean showed significant growth in his basketball development this season.

Thomas Leigh received the U14 CVL Coaches award. While playing very limited minutes last season, T. Leigh stepped up his game this season in CVL and N.L games. Leigh had key moments this season which included a key lay-up in the Rams U14 N.L game against Hertfordshire Warriors, helping them to win this game

                                                U16 CVL

Cameron Mitchell was named U16 CVL MVP. In a very close online voting, Cameron Edged out Kyle Uy and Joel Bloomer. The U16 Rams CVL team had a very strong league campaign. Although they did not win the league, the Rams showed they are one of the top teams in Surrey. While the Rams do not send their strongest team to CVL meets, they continue to put out competitive teams each week filled with year 9 and year 10 players. Cameron Mitchell worked hard this season and took on the role as the go-to guy this season. Cameron Led his team in minutes played and was always one of the top scorers at each CVL game. Cameron will look to build on his strong play when he suits up next year for the U16 N.L team.

Iain Lucas finished the season as the M.I.P of the U16 CVL. An emerging player who has been under the radar for the last couple of years has now begun to tap into his potential. Coach Popoola had this to say about Iain, "I'm so proud of Iain and his has really blossomed late in the year. Iain has been dedicated for the past 3 years and I feel he will be a major player in next season's U16 N.L campaign. I hope he will continue to work hard through the summer as he is now competing against 18 and 19 year olds and holding his own. I predict Iain and Cameron to be the X-factor of next seasons U16 N.L team"

Charlie Ford came through as the winner of the U16 CVL coaches’ award. Charlie exemplifies a great teammate and player on the Rams team. This award was given to Charlie because of his hard work, positive attitude, his willingness give his all for his team. Charlie was a solid contributor at both N.L and CVL U16 and has really become a sharp shooter who is about making his teammates better.

                                                                             U14 N.L

Joel Bloomer ran away with this MVP award. What a great season it has been for Charlie as Charlie is the only player to also be runner up in the U16 CVL MVP awards, along with the runner for M.I.P and Coaches award for the U16 CVL team. Finally Joel was also runner up to the Surrey Rams Basketball Player of the year award. J. Bloomer has been pivotal to the U14 N.L team success not just as a scorer, J. Bloomer led his team in warm ups, huddles even in practice. Joel was the type of player to push his team when they were flat at practice. J.Bloomer was also the only U14 player to play for the U16 and U18 N.L teams. Jacob Davenport and Charlie Remnant were runners up to the MVP award.

Adam Bonnett received the M.I.P award. Another new face to the Rams, A. Bonnett became a core player for the U14 Rams team. Adam improved significantly through the year through his strong aggressive play and drives.

Lewis Francis was named the U14 N.L coaches player. Coach Richard Green said "It's not always the player who scores the most points, or the player who makes the flashiest move that helps the team win. Having a player who does the little things like picking up his teammates, taking in game charges, always being at practice and giving his all. This is what kind of player a coach wants on his team. It has been a pleasure coaches Lewis this season." Lewis had key moments this season when he scored the game winning basket against Herts Warriors U14 N.L team.

                                                U16 N.L

Yech Galang walked away with the U16 N.L MVP award. Yech received the most online votes claiming the award after the first day of the online voting. It's been quite a sensational season for Y. Galang as he led the club in scoring and led his team to a strong season. After only winning 1 game last season, Yech came back stronger, quicker and with more arsenals to his game this season. Yech also logged a few games for the U18 this season in which he showed he can also score at that level too. Although the U16 did not make the play-offs or win the league, they were only 2 games out of play-off positioning while also being the showing they were the strongest Rams team. "Yech is special as his speed and short selections make him very hard to guard on single coverage. Once Yech becomes consistent beyond the three point line, he will cause nightmares for other teams.

Kyle Uy received the M.I.P of the U16 N.L. Kyle was also runner up for the MVP, Kyle was also runner up for Coaches award. K. Uy is probably the most dynamic player at the club as he has become a strong defender who is able to pick up, as a PG/SG for his size Kyle also became the best rebounding and passer on the team.

Will Hooper won the Coaches award. Will became the voice of the team through the year, a great leader and captain who finished the season off very strong. Will become one of the team’s best perimeter shooters will also developing as a great rebounder. Will won this award because of his great attitude in games.

                                           U18 N.L Awards

Michael Dilley was named the U18 MVP. Mike is one of the first players to be graduating from the club after starting at the club as a U14 player. Mike led the U18 in scoring which included a key game winning 3 point shot against Raynes Park. Surprisingly Mike also led his team in 3 point made and shooting. Mike's game has really blossomed as he is able to score in a variety of ways whether it’s inside or out. Mike will be missed at the club.

Enric Canitrot received the M.I.P award for the U18 team, Ric was also runner up for the MVP award. Ric took advantage of various injuries at the club when he was moved from shooting guard to Point guard. The teams scoring efficiency went up while also helping to lead the team to some key end of season wins. Ric went from being a quiet player to the leader play maker of the team. Josh Lucas was runner up to this award.

Kiran Basnet earned the Coaches award. A big asset to the club as Kiran led his team in rebounding and second chance points. Kiran was instrumental to the teams late season success as he became a force in the paint for the Rams.

SURREY RAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Alberto Reina was names the first ever Surrey Rams Player of the year. Alberto played a big role at the club this season as he played for the U16 CVL and N.L team, along with finish the season as a starter on the U18 team. "Albi was asked to do so much this season from playing the point guard, shooting guard on 3 teams. He never complained and always came to play. It was a frustrating start to the year for Albi as he had just recently moved from Spain and Fiba did not clear him to play N.L games until late November. I could see Albi's frustration but he is such a positive guy, and continued to practice and wait for his tie to shine." Although he was not able to play N.L games, Albi did some damage at the CVL. He led the U16 CVL to a very respectable record before he was cleared to play N.L. Albi contributed big time on his U16 and U18 N.L team, he was often under-sized but his heart and attitude kept him on top of the competition. Although a quiet guy Alberto Reina has been loud on the court this season.
