Narrabeen Sports High School are currently seeking “Expressions of Interest” for the position of Head Coach – AFL in our Sports Academy Program for 2017.
The focus of the Sports Academy is to provide elite, and emerging elite athletes an environment for academic and social development, whilst acknowledging, and assisting with the development of, the individual training and competition demands in a chosen sport.
The role of Head Coach AFL:
- Provide skill acquisition and training sessions for the AFL program in our Sports Academy from the hours of 8:30am to 10am on a Tuesday and Thursday morning through the school term (3 hours total per week)
- Work with a sports supervisor and assistant coach to ensure that all training sessions are student focused around skill development. All sessions are to be both enjoyable and varied.
- Monitor student behaviour and standard of attire during Academy training sessions and report any issues to the sports supervisor or Head of Sport.
- Complete a coaching session planner for every session that is linked closely with the AFL coaching curriculum.
- Provide two written reports on each students’ progress and development throughout the year.
- Promote Narrabeen Sports High School’s Sport Academy AFL program through various AFL networks to attract elite athletes to the our school.
- AFL Coaching qualification or equivalent dept of experience in coaching.
- Experience in coaching school aged children.
- In addition to the role of Academy Head Coach AFL NSHS Sports Academy, the successful applicant will also be considered for a role as AFL Development Co-ordinator with AFL NSW ACT. This position is funded by AFL NSW ACT at their hourly rate and will be paid directly by the AFL NSW ACT.
