Twenty one up and coming female football stars from the ACT and Riverina region have been chosen in the NSW/ACT Youth Girls Development squad for 2013/14.
Fifty girls overall were selected in the squad which will take part in a development camp starting in early 2014.
The players were chosen by a panel of six selectors who attended the NSW/ACT Youth Girls State Carnival held in Wagga Wagga last weekend.
The panellists included NSWACT State Talent Manager, Darren Denneman, members of the Riverina Lions, ACT Women’s Head Coach Adrian Pavese, Ex Riverina Lyons Coach Mick Barnes and NSW/ACT Female Programs Manager, Libby Sadler.
Girls from Ainslie’s two Youth Girls team dominated the ACT selections, with eight out of the ten representing the tri colours.
AFL NSW/ACT Female Football Manager, Libby Sadler said the team was selected based on position, current skill level and potential to develop.
Sadler said the selection panel was ecstatic with the amount of talent on display at the State Carnival
“We were all exceptionally pleased to see so many young talented footballers running around on the ground”
“The increasing skill level of our youth girls is outstanding”
