Recent NEAFL Rising Star nominee Ben Halse is one busy eighteen year old, juggling NEAFL and NSW/ACT Rams duties.
The Eastlake young gun was named in the best afield in the Rams recent big win over Northern Territory at Blacktown on Saturday.
The Rams were ruthless in attack, claiming a 101 point victory finishing on 19.19 (133) to Northern Territory's 5.2 (32).
Coached by former Sydney Swans player Jason Saddington, NSW/ACT dominated every aspect of the game.
Midfield trio of Jake Barrett, Michael Gibbons and Lloyd Perris combined to form an unstoppable avenue to goal and each picking up over 30 possessions.
Jydon Neagle was a standout in the forward line booting six majors, while Matthew Eastman, Mitchell Mahady and Gibbons were also among the goals, all finishing with two apiece.
Halse’s ACT counterpart Jedd Clothier, from Belconnen, also finished the day with one goal.
Halse said the team is performing well together and should be confident going in to their next round clash against Queensland at Visy Park
"We’ve just played more as a group than in recent weeks"
"I think our hard work is paying off, and we are listening to what the coach wants and doing it"
Halse is definitely listening to his Eastlake coach as well and ticking all the right boxes, as his recent performance in the NEAFL earned him the Round 13 Rising Star nomination.
"I’m pretty honoured to be nominated" Halse said
"I’ve been putting in a lot of hardwork, and it is good to get the chance to step up to the NEAFL, and being able to play well"
Eastlake General Manage Bruce Macafee says Halse is handling the work load of club and representative duties well
"He is conscious of the demands playing both Rams and NEAFL, and is managing his football load well"
"He still has plenty of growing to do, but he definitely has a bright future"
The Rams have two round matches remaining in the NAB U18 Championships, playing Queensland this Saturday at Visy Park, before flying down to Melbourne to take on Tasmania on July 4 at Victoria Park.
